Apple Picking in Abbotsford

“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall.” – Oscar Wilde

Today, I spent a perfectly crisp fall morning picking from an abundance of juicy apples at Taves Family Farm in Abbotsford. The farm offers Fuji, Gala, Ambrosia, Honeycrisp and Alkmene apples.

Picking your own apples is lots of fun and also quite cheap. We paid just 8$ for 5lbs of delicious apples. Apparently, the apples on the outside branches of the trees are the ripest due to their exposure to the sun. These apples are also the highest in vitamins.

The apple orchard itself was stunningly beautiful and peaceful, too. It was the perfect way to start the fall season.

And if apples aren’t enough, they also have pears!

After filling our bag to the brim, we made our way back to the farm store to purchase them. We went into apple overload mode and also bought an amazing apple cider slushy, which is made fresh onsite every day, and caramel apple pie flavour fudge. Yum!

So if you’ve been looking for the perfect activity to do this fall, look no further. After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away…
