Homemade Chocolate Chip Granola Bars Recipe

Granola bars are perfect for a quick snack, breakfast on the go and packed lunches, too. I always find myself buying heaps of granola bars in the store. So I thought – why not try and make them myself. The great thing about granola bars is that you can add whatever you like to them. If you don’t like nuts, add dried cranberries instead. If you feel like something sweet, you could even add M&M’s or white chocolate chips. The list is endless.


2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
1/4 cup walnuts
1/4 pumpkin seeds
1/2 butter
1 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


Preheat your oven to 350F.Β  In a large bowl, mix the butter, the honey, cinnamon powder, baking soda, and the vanilla extract until they reach a creamy texture. Next, add your oats, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and the chocolate chips. Keep stirring until your mixture sticks together. Finally, transfer your mixture into an oven-safe dish and cook for 30 minutes or until brown. When you take the granola bars out of the oven, they will still feel soft. I leave mine in the fridge overnight. The following morning, you can cut and decorate them.


I chose to decorate my granola bars with dark chocolate chips and melted peanut butter.
